SAIL is the leading steel-making company in India with a turnover of Rs. 47,103 crore (FY 10-11). This company manufactures wide variety of steel products and produces steel products for various purposes. SAIL has five integrated steel plants, three special plants, and one subsidiary in different parts of the country. Basically Sail is the public sector company that is owned and governed by the Government of India. Major plants of SAIL are located at Bhilai, Bokaro, Durgapur, Rourkela, Burnpur (near Asansol) and Salem.
